Liepaja has been known not only for its industry, port or military role. The greatest asset of Liepaja have always been its people - their unique acheivements in culture, sports and social activities.

Liepaja is famous for its atmosphere facilitating creation of music and art works. There are numerous songs, paintings and poems devoted to this beautiful place near the sea. You can get an impression of these creations during the festivals organised in Liepaja every year. 

But Liepaja has always been a city inviting everybody to participate -  in creation of art and music, in sports activities and in making decisions influencing everyday lives. There are active youth organisations and organisations representing people with special requirements.
