3. Gallery "Roman Garden"
In the very heart of Liepāja, there is a beautiful building, which construction design was created by the city’s chief architect Paul Max Bertschy. It used to be the elegant “Hotel de Rome”. The courtyard of the hotel is the entrance to the Art Gallery "Roman Garden". The art gallery keeps a collection of Liepāja's art treasures and here you can discover the works of outstanding 20th century Liepāja artists.
Valters Uzticis, Jānis Sudmalis, Artūrs Baumanis, Staņislavs Dinģelis, Kārlis Sauka, Jānis Lauva, Kārlis Lejnieks and others are well represented. The collection also includes outstanding and valuable paintings by Augusts Annus, Kārlis Fridrihs Šaumanis and Jānis Gailis. There are also artworks by artists Miķelis Golts, Egīls Radziņš and Visvaldis Ziediņš.
Among the works of the greatest Latvian painters there are paintings by Jāzeps Pīgožnis, Kurts Fridrihsons, Hilda Vīka, Jānis Brekte, Biruta Delle, Eduards Kalniņš and others. Contemporary artists are represented by paintings by Aleksejs Naumovs, Rolands Gross, Maija Tabaka, Džemma Skulme, Artis Bute and others.
