4. Folk song ensemble "Voļņica"
The well-known folk song ensemble "Voļņica" was founded on 1 April 1990.
The repertoire of the Liepāja Folk Art and Culture Centre’s ensemble "Voļņica" includes Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Gypsy, Jewish, Spanish, German and Latvian songs. The ensemble performs various thematic concerts as contribution to the experience of co-existence of multinational cultures. The ensemble works on community integration programmes, for which it has received many letters of appreciation from the Ministry of Culture, the Russian Ambassador and the Russian Consulate in Liepāja, the Ukrainian Ambassador and others.
During its existence, “Voļņica” has taken part in many competitions and festivals, winning both diplomas and prizes, earning recognition not only locally, but also internationally.
