1. Folklore group "Vēlava"
The folklore group "Vēlava" of the Liepāja Folk Art and Culture Centre was founded in the autumn of 2000, thanks to the initiative of its first leader Zenta Bērtiņa.
Since 2003, the folklore group has regularly participated in the Latvian festival "Baltica", thanks to very good results in the preliminary showcases. Ladies are happy to join various events where they can show off their beautiful songs. The repertoire is not based on ethnographic traditions, but consists of melodic Latvian folk songs, including both well-known and little-known Latvian folk songs and ditties.
