3. Mixed choir "Laiks"

The Liepāja Folk Art and Culture Centre’s Mixed Choir "Laiks" was founded in 2005 under the leadership of its artistic director and conductor Ilze Balode. Currently, more than 40 Liepāja residents of different generations sing in the choir.

The choir “Laiks” is known as a producer and performer of catchy concerts, a team that is not afraid to experiment, always trying to offer the audience something new and unprecedented. In creative collaboration with many artists and composers they bring to life various concert programmes, performing music by both Latvian and international composers. The choir has extensive experience in the genres of sacred, contemporary, popular, jazz and symphonic music - successful cooperation with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, composers Andris Kontautas, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Jānis Strazds and others, as well as with many Latvian academic and popular music performers.

During its existence, the choir "Laiks" has proved its musical abilities and the quality of its performances, winning prizes in both Latvian and international competitions.
